Southeast Texas Beaumont Suburb
Welcome to Pinehurst, a compact Orange County suburb set along Interstate 10 about twenty miles east of Beaumont.
Pinehurst is a small city in central Orange County, Texas, about twenty miles east of Beaumont in the Louisiana-border region of Southeast Texas. It lies along Interstate 10 and State Highways 62 and 73, giving it a position on one of the Gulf Coast's principal east-west corridors. The community was platted in 1948 as Pinehurst Heights by the owners of a large tract, and residents voted to incorporate in 1955, establishing one of the county's smaller municipalities. Pinehurst developed as a residential and retail community serving workers tied to the region's timber, refining, and industrial economy, and it retains that character today as a compact bedroom community for the Orange–Beaumont area. Its population has held fairly steady around 2,200 residents, with a dense suburban feel in which most residents own their homes and many are retirees. The city is served by the West Orange-Cove Consolidated Independent School District, which educates students from Pinehurst, West Orange, and parts of Orange. That shared school system is one of several ways Pinehurst is woven into the fabric of Orange County's small cities, which include Orange, the county seat, Bridge City, and Vidor. The county's economy has long centered on timber, petrochemical refining, and port activity along the Sabine River, and Pinehurst's location keeps those employment centers close. Pinehurst suits households seeking an affordable, low-key suburban lifestyle close to the region's industrial and commercial employment centers. Its highway access makes Beaumont, Orange, and Port Arthur easy to reach, while Lake Sabine and the Sabine River offer outdoor recreation nearby. The city's small scale, owner-occupied housing, and quiet streets give it a settled, community-oriented feel that appeals to retirees and families alike. Day-to-day services within the city remain modest, so residents rely on nearby Orange for county government and shopping, and on Beaumont for regional healthcare, higher education, and entertainment.
