Dickinson is a city in Galveston County, Texas, within the Houston–The Woodlands–Sugar Land metropolitan area. It lies along Interstate 45 and Dickinson Bayou, positioned between Houston to the north and Galveston to the south, roughly twenty minutes from the Gulf beaches. The city's population was about 20,800 in the 2020 census. Dickinson is one of the oldest settlements on the Galveston County mainland, its name coming from an early settler who purchased land from Stephen F. Austin's colony in 1824.
