Rural Montgomery County Town

Apartments in Stagecoach, TX

Welcome to Stagecoach, a small incorporated town in southwestern Montgomery County offering rural acreage living between Magnolia and Tomball.

Stagecoach is a small incorporated town in the southwestern corner of Montgomery County, Texas, positioned northwest of Houston between Magnolia and Tomball. With about 600 residents, it is one of the smaller municipalities in the Houston metropolitan area, defined by rural acreage, larger lots, and a deliberately low-density residential character. The area's roots reach back to 1847, when Thomas J. Stansbury received a land grant from the state of Texas. For generations the area remained rural, and in the 1960s local property owners organized a civic club to look after community interests. Facing the expiration of deed restrictions that protected the area's rural character, residents moved to incorporate, adopting the name Stagecoach when the town was formally incorporated in 1980. The city adopted building codes along the lines of its earlier deed restrictions, an effort that continues to shape its low-density, semi-rural landscape. Today Stagecoach is a quiet residential community of single-family homes set on sizable lots, many of them with room for horses, outbuildings, and open space. Residents rely on the nearby commercial centers of Magnolia and Tomball for shopping, services, and employment, while enjoying a distinctly country setting within commuting distance of Houston. The town's schools are split between two highly regarded districts—Magnolia ISD to the north and Tomball ISD to the south—reflecting its position straddling two school systems. For those seeking acreage and a slower pace without leaving the Houston region, Stagecoach offers an established, community-minded alternative to suburban density. Its history of incorporation specifically to preserve that character is central to the town's identity. The surrounding countryside is marked by wooded lots, pastures, and seasonal creeks, and the town's location near FM 1774 places it within easy reach of regional parks, lakes, and the equestrian facilities common to the Magnolia-Tomball area.
